The most popular month for financial advice in 2024 was January, as thousands in the UK started the year with professional advice, according to data from Unbiased.

Around 11% of overall enquiries in 2024 came through in January. This was closely followed by October, which was likely due to the Autumn Budget.

2 January was the most in-demand day for financial advice enquiries in 2024.

The majority of the most popular days are also in January, while the most in-demand week was the first of the year.

Here are the most popular days for financial advice in 2024:

Rank  Day
1Tuesday 2 January
2Wednesday 3 January
3Thursday 4 January
4Monday 22 January
5Monday 15 January
6Wednesday 17 January
7Tuesday 23 January
8Monday 29 January
9Monday 11 March
10Monday 5 February

The only days outside of January in the top 10 were in February and March.

Monday 5 February was the first Monday after the self-assessment tax deadline (31 January). Monday 11 March, was only a couple of days after the Spring Budget, which may explain their popularity.

This data highlights how people are more likely to be proactive about getting their finances in order at the beginning of the year. It also shows how significant financial dates, such as a Budget or tax deadline, can often be the push people need to seek expert advice.

Unbiased experienced an increase in financial advice enquiries this year after the General Election and Autumn Budget, as thousands have sought advice amid significant planned tax changes.

Looking more broadly, Mondays are the most popular day to get financial advice, with 11am on Mondays the most in-demand time.

When Unbiased looked at the 10 most popular times for requesting financial advice via the platform, Mondays dominated half of the top spots. They accounted for around 18% of overall enquiries in 2024, closely followed by Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Other popular times on a Monday included 10am, midday, 1pm, and 2pm. 11am was the top time to seek financial advice on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

While it’s unclear why 11am is a popular time, previous research by Redbooth has revealed that the most productive part of the working day is around this time.

Here is a breakdown of the top 10 prime times for financial advice in 2024 below:

Rank  Day and time
1Mondays at 11am
2Tuesdays at 11am
3Wednesdays at 11am
4Mondays at 1pm
5Mondays at 2pm
6Wednesdays at midday
7Tuesdays at 1pm
8Tuesdays at 2pm
9Mondays at 10am
10Mondays at midday

Unsurprisingly, Sundays, especially early mornings, were the least popular times to get financial advice.

What does this mean for 2025?

Looking ahead to 2025, Unbiased’s data implies that financial advice demand will likely continue and surge in January as thousands will be keen to improve their finances in the New Year.

Among the most popular months for financial advice enquiries in 2024 was March, suggesting more demand may also emerge as the UK prepares to navigate the new tax year.

“It’s great to see thousands being proactive and getting financial advice, whether it’s in the New Year, at the start of their week or during lunch,” says Karen Barrett, founder and chief executive of Unbiased.

“Financial advice can be hugely beneficial if you have major life goals or need support navigating estate planning and tax, especially following the Autumn Budget.

“Expert help can help not only to preserve your wealth but to grow it – and avoid costly issues and hefty tax bills.”
